Tauheed – The Oneness of Allah
Tauheed is Arabic word which means “to accept the oneness of Allah”. Islam is totally based upon tauheed without accepting the ones of ALLAH, one cannot become a Muslim or we can say that the person who wants to accept Islam as his/her religion he/she has to accept the oneness of Allah first. After this he/she can move to other pillars of Islam.
Islam has 5 pillars which are Tauheed, Salah, Zakat, Hajj and Fasting. According to different scholars of Islam the numbering of four pillars is different but tauheed is always on the number one for every Muslim and every scholar. To embrace Islam one has to say Kalma tayyaba with his heart which means:
“(There is) none worthy of worship except Allah. Muhammad is Messenger of ALLAH.”
Tauheed According to Hadith:
Following hadith explains the number of tauheed between the five pillars.
Narrated Ibn 'Umar:
“Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Islam is based on (the following) five (principles):
To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Messenger (ﷺ).
To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly.
To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) .
To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca)
To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.”
Tauheed According to Quran:
In Quran there are many verses which explain the oneness of Allah but following is the complete Surah “Surah Ikhlas” which explain tauheed:
“Say, He is Allah, [who is] One, Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent."
